Scary truth behind the gluten-free diet

We all have that one friend who refuses to go near bread. He or she strives to adhere to a gluten-free lifestyle, a diet trend that seems to be growing.

Your friend might say they’re allergic or have an intolerance to gluten. But in reality, so few people have a gluten allergy (or celiac disease), that your friend is probably not one of them.

Even though they don’t need to be following a gluten-free diet, they may still think their diet is working. Your friend may say they feel much healthier after omitting breads and other foods — but doctors warn that is all psychological.

That’s because many times, when someone decides to go gluten free, they’re changing a lot of their lifestyle. So it’s not just them staying away from pasta — it could be a 100 other factors as well.

Trump's Treasury pick targets taxes, trade reforms

WASHINGTON, Nov 30 (Reuters) – President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for U.S. Treasury secretary, Steven Mnuchin, said on Wednesday the administration would target tax reform and trade pact overhauls as top priorities as they seek to achieve 3 percent to 4 percent economic growth.

Mnuchin and Wilbur Ross, Trump’s nominee for commerce secretary, outlined their agenda, including what Mnuchin called the largest tax overhaul since the Ronald Reagan administration, in an interview on CNBC. Both men confirmed they had been tapped for the jobs.

Trump planned to announce the appointments, along with that of Chicago Cubs co-owner Todd Ricketts as Ross’s deputy, later on Wednesday, transition officials said.

Mnuchin and Ross reinforced the sweeping proposals Trump put forth in September to simplify the tax code and slash the corporate tax rate to 15 percent, cutting the top rate for all businesses from the present 35 percent.

“We think by cutting corporate taxes we’ll create huge economic growth and we’ll have huge personal income,” Mnuchin said in the interview.

Payne, 23, looked dapper in a long black jacket, skinny jeans and suede boots for the star-studded evening, with Cole donning a similar black coat. The 33-year-old singer styled the chic piece with black boots and a mid-length olive green dress, which seemingly showed a peek at a growing baby bump.
